The famous Garden Route has so much to offer from endless white beaches to rugged coastlines and malaria-free Big 5 game viewing experiences. This tour includes all the highlights of this route and much, much, more while enjoying the less-travelled roads. The tour is mainly on paved roads, with some easy gravel sections in between and includes crossing the Malgas River via a 19th century hand-operated pontoon. Freeways are avoided at best.

 

11 Day (10 Night) Garden Route Tour (one way: Cape Town to Port Elizabeth)

Day 1 (Distance: 136 Km)

8:00 am – Collection from city hotel and pre-trip briefing at sidecar depot
9:00 am – Orientation drive around the Cape Peninsula including;

  • Cape Point
  • Cape of Good Hope
  • Chapmans Peak Scenic Drive
  • Penguins at Boulders beach
  • Lunch in Simons Town

5:00 pm – Return to city hotel
7:30 pm – Dinner

Day 2 (Distance: 140 Km)

9:00 am – Collection from hotel & depart for Hermanus via Gordons Bay along Clarence Drive
2:00 pm – Arrive in Hermanus for lunch and check in.
3.30 – 6:00 pm –  Optional afternoon activities:

  • Whale and dolphin watching (Seasonal)
  •  Visit Walker Bay nature reserve
  • Old Harbor Museum
  • Abalone Tours

7:30 - pm – Dinner

Day 3 (Distance: 136 Km)

9:00 am – Depart Hermanus for Cape Agulhas

3:00 – 5:00 pm – Depart for Cape Agulhas
5:00 pm – ETA Cape Agulhas. (Most Southern  point of Africa). Hotel check in

Day 4 (Distance: 85 Km)

9:00 am – Depart Cape Agulhas for De Hoop Nature Reserve
12:00 pm- Arrive at De Hoop and check in
1:00 pm – Lunch at De Hoop
2:30 – 6:00 pm – Optional Afternoon activities

Day 5 (Distance: 124 Km)

9:00 am – Depart De Hoop Nature Reserve for Still Bay via the Malgas River crossing (hand pulled pontoon).
2:00 pm – Arrive in Still Bay for lunch and hotel check in
4:00 – 6:00 pm – Optional afternoon activities

  • Kasselshoop - Cheese Factory

9:00 am – Depart Still Bay for Botlierskop Private Game Reserve
12:00 pm – Arrive at Botlierskop Game Reserve & check in
12:00 pm–  Lunch
1:00 pm –   Game drive (Big 5 experience)

Day 7 (Distance: 96 Km)

10:30 am – Depart Botlierskop Game Reserve for Oudtshoorn over the Outeniqua Pass
1:00 pm – Arrive in Oudtshoorn for lunch & check in
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Optional trip to Safari Ostrich farm
7:30 pm – Dinner

Day 8 (Distance: 208 Km)

8:00 am – Depart Oudtshoorn for Knysna over Prince Alfred pass via Uniondale
11:00 am – Late breakfast in Uniondale before tackling the Prince Alfred pass (gravel section)
6:00 pm – Arrive in Knysna and check in
7:00 pm – Dinner

Day 9 (Distance: 109 Km)

9:00 am – Depart Knysna for Tsitsikamma National Park via Natures Valley & Plettenberg Bay
12:00 pm – Arrive in Tsitsikamma for lunch followed by check in.
2:30 – 6:00 – Optional afternoon activities:

3:30 pm – 5:30 pm – visit Seal Point lighthouse

9:00 am – Depart Cape Saint Francis  for Port Elizabeth via Jefferies Bay.
2:00 pm – Arrive in Port Elizbeth.  Guest de-brief and transfer to hotel or airport

6 DAY (5 NIGHT) WINELANDS ROUND TRIP

The tour showcases the beautiful scenery of the Western Cape hinterland. Following Route 62 to Barrydale through the Montague natural rock arch bordered on both side of the road by the Twistniet nature reserve. Returning over the well known Tradouwshoek pass into the Cape winelands of the Overberg area visiting the towns of Greyton and onto Franchhoek via the Franchoek pass

6 DAY (5 NIGHT) WEST COAST & MOUNTAINS ROUND TRIP

Travelling northwards & following the Benguela ocean current up the West Coast of Southern Africa allows you to experience the semi-arid desert with an abundance of indigenous fauna & flora. Following the coastline along the R27 west coast road up to Lamberts Bay then cutting inland to the Cederberg Wilderness area and returning through the Middleberg mountain pass via the pretty town of Tulbugh and onwards to Cape Town.
