12-DAY KLEIN KAROO AND GARDEN ROUTE TOUR

Day 1: Transfers and Introductions

  • Arrive at Cape Town Airport in the morning, to be, met by our Cape Sidecar Adventures (CSA) representative.
  • Transfer to hotel in minibus, hotel check-in, money exchange, etc.
  • Lunch: Waterfront, Cape Town.
  • Transfer to Cape Sidecar Depot, Three Anchor Bay depot after lunch for bike orientation. Meet the tour leader, maps and itineraries and backup introduction.
  • Overnight in a city hotel.

Day 2: Cape Peninsula

  • 8.30 am: Transfer to Cape Sidecar depot, Three Anchor Bay, after breakfast .
  • Itinerary (Peninsula Day Trip): Three Anchor Bay depot – Muizenberg – Boulders Beach – Cape Point (lunch) – Noordhoek Farm Village – Chapman’s Peak Drive – Hout Bay – Camps Bay – back to Three Anchor Bay.
  • Activities: Penguins at Boulders Beach; funicular and Lunch at Cape Point; Chapman’s Peak viewpoint; Seal Island boat trip (Hout Bay); sundowner drinks at La Med (Camps Bay).
  • Return to CSA depot.
  • Total distance: 160 km
  • Activities: Boulders Beach penguins’ colony; Cape Point Nature Reserve; Seal Island Boat trip
  • Lunch.
  • Transfer to Cape Town city hotel.

Day 3: From Mountain to Mountain Passes

  • 8.30 am: Transfer to CSA depot after breakfast.
  • Itinerary: Cape Town – Du Toits Kloof Pass - Worcester – Robertson (lunch in Robertson at selected wine estate).
  • Travel to Montague on famed Route 62.
  • Activities: Wine tasting at selected wine estates in the Breede River Valley .
  • Visit the Hot Spring Mineral Baths and overnight in Montague.
  • Total distance for the day: 175 km. (cumulative distance: 335 km)

Day 4: Route 62

  • 09.30 am: depart after breakfast and check out.
  • Itinerary: (Continue along Route 62). – Montague – Barrydale – Ladismith – Calitzdorp “Port capital of South Africa” for lunch. After lunch: Calitzdorp - Oudtshoorn.
  • Activities: Visit Ronnie's Sex Shop; Port tasting in Calitzdorp.
  • Overnight in Oudtshoorn.
  • Total distance for the day: 245 km (cumulative distance: 580km)

Day 5: Caves and Feathers

  • 08.30 am: Depart after breakfast and checkout.
  • Itinerary: Cango Caves – visit selected ostrich farm – lunch in Oudtshoorn – George via Outeniqua Pass – Knysna.
  • Activities: Tour of world-famous Cango Caves; visit and lunch at an historic ostrich farm.
  • Overnight in Wilderness Hotel.
  • Total distance for the day: 80 km (cumulative distance: 660 km)
  • Cango Caves, Ostrich ranch

Day 6: Day at Leisure

  • 08.30 am: After breakfast, travel to Knysna.
  • Itinerary: Explore Knysna and environs at leisure for the day (Knysna/Tsitsikamma/Storms River/Plettenberg Bay).
  • Choose an activity : Featherbed Nature Reserve visit; visit to Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve; Canopy Tours; visit and oyster farm and enjoy the oysters.
  • Overnight in Knysna.
  • Total distance for the day: 80km (cumulative distance: 740 km)

Day 7: Big 5

Day 8: Country Roads

  • 09.30 am: Depart after breakfast and checkout.
  • Itinerary: Botelierskop – Albertinia – Riversdal – Heidelberg – Cape Infante for lunch – Malgas – Bredasdorp – Arniston
  • Activities: River crossing on the historical Malgas Pont.
  • Visit to historical Waenhuiskrans fishing village & harbour; Evening traditional fish braai.
  • Overnight at Arniston Hotel.
  • Distance for the day: 230 km (Cumulative distance: 1120 km)

Day 9: The Edge of Africa

  • 09.30 am: Depart after breakfast and checkout.
  • Itinerary: Arniston – Agulhas – Gansbaai – Hermanus.
  • Activities: Visit to southernmost tip of Africa at Agulhas; visit historic Agulhas lighthouse; shark cage diving in Gansbaai.
  • Overnight in Hermanus.
  • Distance for the day: 165 km (cumulative distance: 1285 km)

Day 10: Whaling Country

  • Leisurely breakfast.
  • Morning of leisure, visiting the sights and attractions around Hermanus.
  • After lunch, depart for Franschhoek.
  • Activities: Whale watching; wine tasting.
  • Overnight inFranschhoek.
  • Distance for the day: 100 km (Cumulative 1385 km)

Day 11: Back to Cape Town

  • 09.30 am: Depart after breakfast and checkout.
  • Itinerary: Franschoek – Helshoogte Pass – Stellenbosch – Spier – False Bay (Baden Powell coastal drive) – Muizenberg – CSA depot. Return bikes to depot.
  • Activities: Brandy tasting.
  • Spier Wine Estate (Cheetah Sanctuary)
  • Lunch/picnic
  • Overnight at Cape Town city hotel.
  • Distance for the day: 115 km (cumulative: 1500 km)

Day 12: Cape Town – optional day

Notes

  1. Minimum of five guests or drivers in a group. Full package cost per person for 12 day/11 night tour:
    R 35 000 per driver
  2. Up to two passengers can be included per sidecar at a net cost of R22 000 per pasenger. (if the passenger is sharing accommodation with the driver, this rate will be reduced).
  3. Package price excludes fuel, tips, excursions, activities, incidentals and drinks (other than wine tastings, tolls and entry fees as specified).
  4. Estimated additional cost for a chauffeur for this tour will be R 10 000 per sidecar.
  5. Valid international driver’s license is required for all drivers. Minimum age: 25.
