Long Beach

After leaving Slangkop and passing through Kommetjie and Sun Valley, it's a left turn towards the famed Chapman's Peak Drive. As the road winds up to the peak, stop off at the first lay-by & feast your eyes on the stunning Long Beach that goes on for ever & ever. This vantage point gives you panoramic views of the Noordhoek Valley below as far as the Slangkop lighthouse on the horizon. If you're there long enough you'll be able to see a group of visitors out on their horses enjoying a canter along the beach on their way for a picnic. Small fishing boats trawling for crayfish dot the waters off Long Beach.

Head straight for the harbour, park the bike & stroll around the harbourside for a while. If you're lucky, you'll be able to buy yourself a fresh snoek from the local fishermen. If you'd like to see the seals, buy a ticket on one of the launches operating from the harbourside for a one hour round trip visit to Seal Island. Great places to eat fresh seafood are Mariners Wharf for platters or Fish on the Rocks for the best value fish & chips in town, wrapped in newspaper.

Camps Bay
